Why has been the price of bitcoin fluctuating these past few days? There wasn't any significant news which could affect it so much. What's the reason?

Segwit activation has been blossoming and is now up past 10% adoption. This is something people thought would take a lot longer. Also a new investment firm is opening up bitcoin trading for big investors with money over 1 million dollars "LEDGER X". Last but not least 2 up coming hard forks means more free bitcoin, so people might be stocking up before we retrace back to all time highs at past $5,000.!

Are you new in the cryptocurrency world? If so, you should know that almost all (besides pegged) cryptocurrencies are VERY volatile. Bitcoin has actually been reasonably stable in comparison to other cryptocurrencies. If you look at the graphs of bitcoin vs the graphs of other cryptocurrencies, you will see that Bitcoin is reasonably stable. I suggest you take a look at it yourself, at coinmarketcap.com

It's due to resistance caused by instability in the crypto market due to the Chinese banning icos and shutting own bitcoin exchanges and the US SEC getting ready to put strict regulations in place and some exchanges already delisting several coins that are somehow associated to bitcoin... I think resistance will go on until end of this year so I don't really see btc crossing the 4 k cap before beginning of next year most probably when things settle down in the market ... then we will see a slow, steady and above all healthy growth of btc and the other renown altcoins such eth, ltc, neo etc.
